Meet Shoroq…

Born and raised in Qattanah, Jerusalem, Palestine, Shoroq has always been inspired by the resilience and diversity of her community.

Shoroq graduated from high school with a distinction, earning a GPA of 94.7, and went on to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at Birzeit University. Her decision to study at Birzeit University was driven by its renowned reputation in technology, the strength of its degree programs, and its vibrant student body.

The diversity of its students—spanning different religions, cultures, and political affiliations—has provided her with a unique environment to develop both academically and socially. It has helped Shoroq cultivate an open-minded perspective and strong interpersonal skills alongside her technical expertise.

Her passion for technology and problem-solving has been central to her academic journey. Starting with foundational programming in C and Java, she has worked on various innovative projects, including:

  • BFeedKpro Application: A platform for book exchange and course feedback among students.

  • Hoya Website: A digital space to promote Palestinian products to international tourists.

  • H2O Dry Clean System: A database system created with Java and MySQL.

Beyond academics, she is actively involved in voluntary extracurricular activities. She has organized competitions, supported student clubs, and participated in problem-solving competitions, which have enriched her teamwork, leadership, and critical thinking abilities.

Looking to the future, Shoroq aspires to contribute to the technological advancement of Palestine, crafting impactful solutions that intertwine innovation with cultural heritage.
