“I aim to reshape the Palestinian health sector and guide it towards a more advanced system that integrates all health care professionals in providing optimal care for patients. This redefining can be brought about by creating and implementing new policies along with regulatory bodies.”
Meet Ruba…
Ruba was born and raised in Ramallah, Palestine and studied MSc Clinical Pharmacy, International Practice and Policy at University College London (UCL).
She believes that this program best aligns with her passions and career ambitions. By focusing on healthcare, leadership, and pharmacy innovation, the program combines her different areas of interests. Ruba states that theory goes hand in hand with practice in this program and hence it offers a unique opportunity to sharpen her clinical pharmacy skills along with developing inquisitive and enquiring approaches to practice and pharmaceutical care delivery.
The placement will be invaluable for Ruba to experience a clinical practice setting; in order to further develop her medicine optimization, research, leadership, and governance skills. This is important to Ruba as she aspires to utilise these skills in order to revolutionize the Palestinian healthcare system and bring it up to standards practiced internationally. Ruba’s mission is to enact human benefit through leadership, innovation, radical thinking, and defying conventional boundaries, and this is one that she shares with UCL.
Ruba believes that her course selection will provide her with sufficient insight into a developed healthcare system and will aid in her journey of helping others, while paving her way towards revolutionizing and reinventing the healthcare system in Palestine. Ruba believes that quality healthcare should be a universal right for everyone, and Palestinians especially shouldn’t be subjected to poor standards of healthcare.
“Aside from UCL being one of the top universities in the world, it has also always been recognized for its academic leadership in addressing global challenges for the long-term benefit of humanity. It provides an environment to nourish students and encourage them to take initiative through its cross disciplinary approach.”
Ruba has always believed that health care is a right, not a privilege. Upon the completion of her studies, she plans on utilizing the skills, experiences, and knowledge that she will gain in a multitude of ways. Ruba aspires to obtain a job in clinical pharmacy at a hospital. She also plans on sharing her experience by working as a preceptor or a lecturer at Birzeit University as she believes that the best way to drive change is through providing knowledge to the largest number of students. Students will be the sharpest weapons in shaping the future of societies.
