The Royal Osteoporosis Society
The Amjad & Suha Bseisu Foundation are adamant in continuing our efforts to contribute to institutions aimed on researching and advocating for prevention of critical diseases such as osteoporosis (where bones become brittle and fragile from loss of tissue). We have been able to accomplish this through our recent support for The National Osteoporosis Society.
“The National Osteoporosis Society promote bone health to prevent osteoporosis.” Adele Claase, donor relations manager of the charity, said describing the charity’s mission. “Our vision is to put an end to osteoporosis,” she added.
Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones lose their strength and are more likely to break, usually following a minor bump or fall. Osteoporosis however, can be quite fatal. Osteoporosis can lead to a hip fracture, which has a 25% chance of killing you within the first six-to-twelve months of acquiring the fracture. Therefore, it is crucial for charities such as The National Osteoporosis Society to advocate for bone health as well as early prevention of osteoporosis leading to a fatal bone issue such as a hip fracture.
On behalf of The National Osteoporosis Society, the leading osteoporosis charity in Britain, Ms. Claase says that “Every person aged over 50 (that the charity is in contact with) who breaks a bone is assessed for osteoporosis and managed appropriately.”
Not only does the charity promote bone health, yet contributions from benefactors such as our foundation will be directed towards “expanding the charity’s training programme to include the identification and management of vertebral fractures.”
