Our Partner: University of Oxford
We are proud to announce our partnership with the University of Oxford which started in 2021.
The Bseisu Foundation and the University of Oxford have established a partnership to support up to 2 scholars a year with a fully funded scholarship for Oxford’s new and innovative MSc Energy Systems.
The Bseisu-Oxford Scholarship will be available to applicants of the 1-year master’s course who are from Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria. The scholarship will be jointly funded by the Bseisu Foundation and the University of Oxford’s Department of Engineering and will cover both tuition fees and living costs. Funding will be available for the next 3 years, until 2023-2024.
The programme, which was launched in 2019, is the first of its kind in the world and seeks to address one of humanity’s biggest challenges - energy and its transition to cleaner sources. The course covers the technical, societal and political aspects of energy systems and will provide students with an understanding of how to develop innovative solutions.
"The future energy transition is a global problem that will require local solutions, meaning that the training of local experts in energy systems has never been more important. The gift from the Amjad and Suha Bseisu Foundation to support students from the Levant will assist the region in the development of local experts who understand the global energy system challenge, but at the same time are able to apply relevant local knowledge to adopted solutions."
— Professor David Wallom, Course Director of MSc Energy Systems
Oxford is a proudly international university, with 41% of their students coming from outside the UK. We are delighted to be working alongside such a world-renowned institution and to share a great dedication to increasing diversity in higher education. We are grateful to be given the opportunity to support talented individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds in the Levant, who are embarking on such a valuable and impactful programme.
“Our foundation is focused on empowering young scholars by investing in their education and future. Through this, we enable them to achieve their full academic and professional potential.
We are so proud to be able to provide outstanding young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the Levant with truly transformative experiences.”
— Amjad Bseisu, CEO and Co-founder of the Bseisu Foundation
We are so excited to see where our partnership takes the next generation of scholars and we look forward to supporting their endeavours over the next few years.
