Congrats to our Graduates

Now that the academic year has come to a close, many of our scholars are finishing dissertations and projects, while others have already graduated. We want to wish all of our scholars a massive congratulations. We are so proud of your perseverance, and your unwavering commitment to education, your careers and your communities. We are proud to support so many outstanding scholars at top universities around the world.

To celebrate how incredible they are, we wanted to mention a few of their outstanding achievements both during their studies and after graduating.

Ruba, who studied MSc Clinical Pharmacy, International Practice and Policy at UCL is one of our Chevening scholars. Ruba recently spoke about her experience as a Palestinian woman studying in the UK at the Chevening Partnership Reception. The event was held in Durbar Court at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office. As part of her studies, Ruba has been working and completing placements in hospitals across London, and we were so proud to listen to Ruba as she recounted her experiences and her joy in studying abroad in the UK.

Fadi (BSc Artificial Intelligence with Industrial Experience) and Zain (BSc Computer Science) both studied at the University of Manchester for their undergraduate degrees. Both Fadi and Zain completed work experience and internships during their degrees. Fadi completed his Year in Industry placement at Arm and will be starting as a full time Graduate Software Engineer with Arm in September 2022. Zain also completed a summer internship at Arm and has now started working as a full time Backend Compiler Engineer at Apple. Well done Fadi and Zain! We wish you all the best with your future endeavours and careers!

We supported Luna in partnership with Amideast, a US based non-profit organisation that works to strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation between Americans and people from the MENA region. Luna is now supporting the Bseisu Foundation as our Communications Intern. We are so excited to see what Luna’s post-graduation future looks like! All the best Luna!

Nour consistently scored a perfect GPA during her time at Duke and during her studies balanced a part time job whilst being involved in volunteering, extracurriculars and writing published papers!! She focused her research on Nutrition and Diet Quality and has recently accepted an offer to study a PhD in Population Health Sciences at Harvard. Congratulations Nour! Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed!

Rafat began studying BSc Computer Science at Kings College London in 2019 and has excelled as a student, whilst holding various other responsibilities. Rafat decided to continue studying at Kings for an extra year by converting his undergraduate degree into an integrated Masters (MSci). More recently, Rafat has been offered a fully funded scholarship by the university to continue his studies. In addition to this, over the last few years, Rafat has been working in academia and has been employed at KCL as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA), where he teaches over 6 modules to almost 250 students over the course of a year. He began teaching online seminars for 20 students before being promoted to the Informatics department staff. Rafat’s students have given him great feedback and even nominated him for the Outstanding Teaching Award.

Banah studied Genomic Medicine at the University of Cambridge as one of our Bseisu-Cambridge scholars. Whilst studying in Cambridge, Banah carried out important and exciting work in a Covid 19 Research Lab. Banah also recently graduated from Cambridge and attended her graduation ceremony after it was postponed for a year. She is now studying a PhD in Genomic Medicine and Statistics at the University of Oxford. Best of luck Banah! We hope you love Oxford just as much as Cambridge!

Judy studied Soil Mechanics and Environmental Geotechnics at Imperial College London and is currently completing her final project and dissertation. Throughout her degree, Judy took part in extracurriculars and was invited to attend the Rankine Dinner, which is a prestigious event in the field of Geotechnical Engineering. Following the dinner, Judy was selected to sit on the Board for the Young Members Presidential Group of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE). The Board is made up of a small, talented group of people across the world and Judy is now the youngest member. Congratulations Judy! We are so pleased that you have landed such an excellent and unique opportunity! You deserve all your success.

Yazan was our first ever scholar at the University of Cambridge back in 2019, where he studied MPHIL Public Health. His graduation was postponed during the summer of 2020 for obvious reasons, but recently Yazan and his family had the opportunity to attend his long-awaited graduation ceremony. Since his time at Cambridge, Yazan has continued to make us proud. He is currently a third-year medical student at New York Medical College, where he is training full time at Metropolitan Hospital in Manhattan and continuing his research, which he gained the skills for during his time at Cambridge. Yazan’s research focuses on health outcomes of marginalised communities and Middle Eastern and North African populations. Yazan has another year and a half in training as a student before becoming a physician in the United States! Congratulations Yazan! We are extremely proud of all your achievements and look forward to hearing about all your future success!

We celebrate the achievements of every single one of our scholars and are so proud of them. The variety and complexity of their degrees, interests and dreams never fails to amaze us. We look forward to sharing even more of their success stories in the coming months and years.

We also wanted to take the opportunity to welcome all of our new scholars who will be joining our community in the coming weeks and months. We can’t wait to see how the next year will positively impact your lives and careers, just like it has done for all the outstanding scholars whose stories are featured above.
