“I like to volunteer and meet new students so volunteer with the International Student Office to welcome new students. I have been in their shoes and like to meet them and help them adjust and feel comfortable.”
Meet Diana…
Diana was born in Ukraine to a Palestinian father and Ukrainian mother and moved to Bethany, Palestine, at the age of four.
A dedicated student, she graduated from the Orthodox School of Bethany and received a scholarship to pursue an associate degree at Joliet Junior College in Illinois. She stood out at Joliet, maintaining a 4.0 GPA and joining the prestigious Phi Theta Kappa Honours Society.
Diana studied Biomedical Engineering at Binghamton University in New York, USA. At Binghamton Diana liked to volunteer and to meet new students. She was an international student ambassador and assisted the Binghamton University International Student office with welcoming new students. Diana noted that she has been in their shoes so likes to meet them and help them adjust to, and feel more comfortable in their new surroundings.
Diana is particularly interested in Tissue Engineering and Biomedical Instrumentation. During the summer, Diana interned at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Her project involved working on the magnetic resonance imaging of adult zebrafish in order to get valuable information about the diseased kidney in the fish model that will help understand and treat polycystic kidney disease.
Diana is considering continuing her studies in Graduate School in one of these two bioengineering subfields; however, prior to starting her graduate studies, she wants to work and gain some experience.
