Ahmad was born in Ramallah, Palestine and spent most of his life in a picturesque small town called Aroura.

After completing high school, he attended Birzeit University, where he pursued two bachelor's degrees, the first in Computer Science and the second in Economics. Throughout his academic journey, Ahmad consistently made it to the Dean's Honour List for academic excellence. In 2023, he graduated with Summa Cum Laude, ranking as the top graduate among the 37 students in Economics majors. During his time at university, Ahmad was an active member of the Economics Club.

Studying Computer Science was a somewhat unexpected yet rewarding journey for Ahmad. Ahmad’s passion has always been Economics since his school days and he was attracted to the idea of addressing real-world issues that directly impact people's lives and futures. However, after high school, Ahmad found himself pursuing a degree in Computer Science and soon discovered the joy of solving complex problems and the practical benefits it offered in various aspects of life.

After completing his Computer Science degree, Ahmad worked hard to create the opportunity to circle back to his true passion, Economics. Ahmad’s journey in both majors allowed him to see the valuable intersections between them. He realised that the two fields could complement each other in unexpected ways, and this cross-field became his point of interest.

Ahmad is pursuing a Master of Science in Economics at the University of Leeds. He chose this field because of his longstanding interest, dating back to his high school days, in its capacity to provide a clearer understanding of real-world problems, spanning from individuals to governments and corporations. Additionally, Ahmad’s upbringing in Palestine, coupled with the economic and developmental challenges faced there, has been a significant motivator for him to delve into economics. He hopes to acquire the necessary tools to make a meaningful contribution to his community. Furthermore, Ahmad’s previous studies in Computer Science and work experience in the field have fuelled his interest in research areas such as deep learning, behavioural economics, and financial economics.

As for choosing to study at the University of Leeds, there were several reasons. Firstly, the University of Leeds being a prestigious Russell Group university, known for its commitment to academic excellence played a significant role in Ahmad’s decision, as well as the institution's outstanding reputation in Economics. Additionally, Ahmad found that Leeds is noted as a city with a good student community, making it an ideal place for him to engage himself in the university experience.

Following the completion of his master's degree, Ahmad’s immediate plan is to embark on a Ph.D.
