“The most exciting aspect of geology is that there is always something new to discover. Because our world is constantly changing and moving, the responsibilities that come with becoming a professional geologist will never bore me.”

Meet Nasuha…

Nasuha was born in Shah Alam, Selangor but grew up in Felda Purun, Pahang. She is currently studying Applied Geology at the University of Malaya.

Nasuha was first introduced to geology when she was 16 years old. She knew then that she wanted to be a professional geologist because she was curious about what our earth had to offer. Gaining new knowledge and learning more about the earth over time particularly excites Nasuha.

Nasuha is a member of the University of Malaya Geological Society of Malaysia Student Chapter and also currently the social media officer of the American Association of Petroleum Geologist Student Chapter at the university. She was also on the technical committee for the Geosport 2022 event, which was held to promote the interaction between our department's students and staff with sport. Nasuha enjoys participating in volunteer activities and would like to participate more actively in volunteering both during and after her studies. She also really enjoys cycling and especially loves her university campus for the great cycling routes it provides.

Growing up, Nasuha has always known the University of Malaya to be the highest-ranking Malaysian institute of higher education in Malaysia, which is why wanted to study at the university to push herself to reach new heights in life, particularly in academics. Her bachelor's degree programme at the University of Malaya is also acknowledged by the Malaysian Board of Geologists (BOG).

After she graduates, Nasuha wants to start working with the intention of continuing her education until she earns a PhD. Nasuha looks forward to the day when she will be able to fully apply her knowledge in this field to help improve the earth for the people.

“Protecting our planet also means protecting our lives. As a geologist, I will have many opportunities to travel to various locations around the world, allowing me to better explore and appreciate nature.”
