Summer Social 2023

London, August 14, 2023 - In a beautifully airy room at the Mortimer House Loft & Gallery space in Central London, the Bseisu Foundation hosted a summer event that was a testament to the foundation's unwavering commitment to empowering scholars from the Levant and Malaysia, providing them with transformative educational opportunities.

As guests mingled, they were treated to intricate mocktails and delicious canapés that set the tone for an evening of celebration and inspiration. The event showcased how education, backed by financial support, can profoundly impact the lives of students.

Co-Founder, Amjad Bseisu, shared his vision for the Bseisu Foundation and its impact on the lives of countless scholars. Having a refugee background himself and benefiting hugely from access to education, Amjad's personal journey drove him to establish the foundation. Amjad had the opportunity to meet with the scholars he supports, forging connections beyond financial assistance. This is just a small part of the human aspect of the foundation's work, supporting the personal growth of these talented individuals.

The event also featured Professor Khitam Muhsen, an epidemiologist from the University of Tel Aviv. She provided valuable insights into her experiences as an Arab woman in academia. Her presence highlighted the foundation's dedication to empowering women and promoting diversity in education.

Tarek Cheaib, one of the foundation's scholars, was a clear example of the will to share knowledge and support others within the Bseisu community, as he spoke about his keenness to stay connected with this community and support it however he could. Tarek’s journey from sustainability engineering to finance was driven by a desire to create a more significant impact on climate change. His career now focuses on encouraging managers to reduce greenhouse emissions, a practical application of his education.

The scholars themselves, both past and present, were at the heart of the event. Their inspiring journeys showcased the transformative power of education and scholarship support. Each scholar's unique path demonstrated determination and the pursuit of a brighter future.

The scholars at the event boasted an impressive array of achievements. One scholar had conducted groundbreaking research in climate change management, contributing to the fight against global warming. Another scholar had made significant strides in computational neuroscience, pioneering new approaches to understanding the human brain. Their commitment to extracurricular activities was equally notable; several had actively engaged in community development initiatives, such as mentoring youth and supporting underserved communities, further highlighting their dedication to creating positive change in society.

From studying sustainability to surgery, these scholars have carved their own paths towards success. Their stories serve as testaments to the life-changing impact of education and scholarship support. The foundation's mission to provide equal opportunities for disadvantaged individuals, especially women and young adults, continues to inspire brighter minds and brighter futures. The Bseisu Foundation's impact extends far beyond scholarships; It is a testament to the profound difference education and scholarship support can make in transforming lives.
