The Bseisu-Cambridge Scholarship

We are pleased to announce the renewal of our partnership with the University of Cambridge. This programme is available to STEM applicants from Palestine, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan and is jointly funded by the Bseisu Foundation and The Cambridge Trust.

Since 2019, we have supported up to 2 masters students per year, at the University of Cambridge, to great success. Our successful scholars have gone on to related careers as well as further education such as PhDs and Medical School.

Please visit our Scholars page to find out more about all of our Bseisu-Cambridge scholars.

We have now supported five Bseisu-University of Cambridge Scholars, across varied STEM departments and we look forward to supporting many more impressive candidates. We will be offering 2 master’s scholarships for the next three years (2022-2025) and we are excited to continue working with the University of Cambridge and The Cambridge Trust to welcome our incoming scholars this year.

Our primary focus is providing support to eligible scholars studying STEM related subjects. Anyone from one of our target countries applying to study a master’s degree in a STEM department at the University of Cambridge is eligible to apply.

Background on The Cambridge Trust

The Cambridge Commonwealth, European & International Trust was established in order to provide financial support for international students on degree courses at Cambridge.

The Trust awards approximately 500 scholarships annually and supports between 1,100 and 1,400 students in residence each year from 85 countries across the world.  During its forty-year history of offering scholarships at the University of Cambridge, the Trust has awarded a total of more than 20,000 scholarships to students from around the world.

Today, the Trust provides the largest number of scholarships for international students at Cambridge, working with partners worldwide to support students of outstanding academic merit under a variety of scholarship schemes.

The University of Cambridge is consistently ranked as one of the top universities in the world and welcomes a high number of international postgraduate students each year (at over 50% of their postgraduate intake).  Their mission is to “contribute to society through the pursuit of education, learning and research at the highest international levels of excellence”, one that aligns with our own mission to the highest degree. We are proud to support scholars at such a diverse and world-renowned institution.

Background on the Bseisu Foundation

The Bseisu Foundation was founded by Amjad and Suha Bseisu in 2005 with the desire to empower young people and support disadvantaged communities in the Levant. Having suffered as first and second-generation refugees, Amjad and Suha wanted to focus on increasing the availability of equal opportunities for all. The Foundation now has a focus on the education and empowerment of disadvantaged individuals, especially women and young people. With this in mind, the Foundation concentrates on enabling talented people from the Levant and Malaysia to access world class higher education. Our hope is that with our support, talented scholars can uplift and give back to their communities.

“Our foundation is focused on empowering young scholars by investing in their education and future. Through this, we enable them to achieve their full academic and professional potential.

We are so proud to be able to provide outstanding young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the Levant with truly transformative experiences.”

- Amjad Bseisu, CEO and co-founder of the Bseisu Foundation

We are really excited to meet our next cohort of outstanding scholars at Cambridge and across all our scholarship programmes. We look forward to supporting and following all their bright futures!
