Meet Lara…

Lara was born and raised in Palestine, has a strong interest in technology and aims to work in research in order to make a difference.

Lara is pursuing an MSc in Computer Science at the University of Bath with a Bseisu-Chevening award. She is most interested in working on research related to AI/ML and visual computing. Lara is fascinated by the potential applications of these fields in various industries and hopes to contribute to the development of new technologies in this area.

Whilst Lara was completing her undergraduate degree, she co-founded a start-up called Ecospire that later won the 2021 Hult Prize. Its focus was on developing innovative technologies to reduce olive oil waste in the Mediterranean region. While Lara is not currently active in the day-to-day operations of the start-up, her experience with the Hult Prize competition gave her valuable business skills from the Hult International Business School, which she hopes to combine with her technical expertise one day to found her own tech start-up.

Lara really wanted to attend The University of Bath because of its high student satisfaction and research excellence. After graduation, she plans to become more actively involved in computer science research, either in academic or industrial contexts.

So far, Lara has really enjoyed her time in Bath. While she was initially drawn to the university's excellent reputation in her field of study, she has also come to appreciate the city's unique culture and history. The beautiful architecture, the Roman baths, and the surrounding countryside have all made Lara’s time in Bath very special.
