“I hope that through my educational background and research experiences, I can help contribute to transforming healthcare technologies in Jordan.”

Meet Hiba…

Hiba was born in Amman, Jordan to Palestinian parents who were children of Palestinian immigrants. She enjoyed science and mathematics from a young age, and grew to appreciate her academic journey.

This drove Hiba to excel at school and allowed her to complete an IB Diploma and secure a scholarship with The University of Sheffield.

During her studies in Sheffield, Hiba was exposed to a myriad of research in the field of medical robotics along with industrial experience in the field of pharmaceuticals. She completed her bachelor's in Bioengineering with a specialisation in Medical Systems Engineering and was awarded a distinction for the best dissertation of the graduating cohort.

In Sheffield, Hiba was part of the Medical Technologies and Bionics societies. She was heavily involved in organising hackathons and other educational events at the University. In summer of 2019, she helped design and deploy a bioreactor at the Sheffield Biomedical Robotics Laboratory in cooperation with the Control Engineering Department at the University.

Hiba is currently pursuing an MPhil in Computational Biology at the University of Cambridge, as some of her interests are rooted in genomics, bioinformatics and proteomics. Following her master's, Hiba would like to gain some more industrial experience working with global healthcare companies. Hiba hopes that through her educational background and research experiences, she can help contribute to transforming healthcare technologies in Jordan.
