“The scholarship I received from the Bseisu Foundation offered me a stepping stone towards achieving my goals in theoretical physics.”

Meet Basheer…

Basheer’s interest in physics started during his secondary school years in his hometown of Gaza, Palestine.

Basheer completed an MSc in Quantum Fields and Fundamental Forces at Imperial College London with a Bseisu-Imperial Scholarship. Having previously graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Physics at Lund University, Sweden, Basheer is passionate about theoretical physics, particularly the fundamental aspects, and has a special affinity for mathematics.

Basheer enrolled in the Engineering Bachelor’s programme at the Islamic University of Gaza upon graduating secondary school in 2013. He enjoyed the first year of a five-year engineering degree but decided to end his studies prematurely as he saw a widening gap between what he was doing at the time and what he aspires to do; focusing more specifically on Physics.

In 2015, Basheer was admitted to the Physics Bachelor’s programme at Lund University in Sweden, winning the “selective, competitive and merit-based” Lund University Global Scholarship.

Basheer hopes to continue on completing a PhD degree in theoretical physics. The scholarship he received from the Bseisu Foundation offered him a stepping stone towards achieving his goal as it allowed him to enrol in one of the world's top MSc programmes in theoretical physics.
